The Redlands U3A Writing and Research Group

Famous Australians

Hi Redlands U3A writers. Welcome to your wiki. As soon as you get the hang of things you can change this welcome message to anything you like.

What's a wiki? A wiki is a "living" website. You or any of your colleagues can easily change it. You can delete or add stuff as often as you like. On the right is the Sidebar. Click on a link in the sidebar and you'll be taken to a story written by your colleagues. You can change the story or add some photos to liven it up. (As a courtesy you should advise the author of suggested changes to get their ok first).  I've found the odd photo to add to the site - I'm sure you'll find others.

Have a look at the stories on the Sidebar called Some Early Australian Notables and Australian Explorers. These are the most recent additions to your wiki and they've been provided by John Tendero, president U3A Pine Rivers. Pine Rivers is a long drive from Redlands. This demonstrates the collaborative power of wikis. Contributors can be invited from anywhere in the world to be part of your wiki team.

To get back to this FrontPage from any of the other pages click the word Wiki top left of this screen.

Experiment - you can't ruin anything. The best way to start is take a page - perhaps a story you've written - then hit the Edit Page tab and change a few words - hit Save (bottom left of this screen). If you don't like the change then simply Edit and Save again. The help files show how to add photos to your story.

If you need any help send me an email at ricks1912@gmail.com

Good luck - Rick Swindell (U3A Online).

I read Mary Gilmore's story and was fascinated. I shall definitely come back and read more of these. Can I suggest using the Sidebar as a list of the pages? I tend to delete the 'Recent Activity' and 'Getting Started' bits of the Sidebar on my wikis - I think navigation is the more important requirement.

Good example for the Qld Network to consider for different U3As sharing similar resources.
